Job Description Summary

The Gas Power PES Senior Services Project Manager will manage complex aftermarket projects involving upgrades on one or more of the following: Industrial Heavy-Duty Gas Turbines, Aero-derivative Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and/or balance-of-plant equipment. The Project Manager will be accountable to deliver projects to Contract requirements, Safety, Quality, Delivery and cost, while maintaining Customer Satisfaction. These projects require stakeholder management expertise, complex planning and coordination, leadership, and contract management, including of subcontractors and partners.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities             

  • Serve as the GE representative and focal point for the customer on the project, owning the customer relationship for the project duration and driving customer issue resolution.
  • Own project execution, including cross-functional coordination of engineering, procurement, shipping logistics, field/ outage execution and performance demonstration.
  • Provide Project Leadership, effectively managing and facilitating cross-functional GE teams to ensure on time delivery, contract deliverables fulfilment, and margin attainment/ enhancement.
  • Understand and implement Contract Terms & Conditions.
  • Manage key stakeholders, and could include 3rd party subcontractors.
  • Manage project financials: price, cost, forecasts, margin, invoicing, and receivables. Manage project risk provisions and participate in Margin Reviews.
  • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle. Escalate risks and issues as needed for resolution.
  • Drive project schedule; work with Project Planner/Scheduler on schedule creation and management.
  • Maintain Project Management system with current scope, schedule, financials, risks, etc. Maintain project documentation.
  • Actively manage project changes with the Customer and project team, following the change management process.
  • Provide project status updates and lead Project Reviews as required.
  • Capture and report project best practices/ lessons learned and Cost-of-Poor Quality cases.

Qualifications/Requirements     

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and/or minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Power Generation/Oil & Energy industry.
  • Obtain Gas Power Services PES Project Manager Qualification within 24 months of assignment including successful training, passing a review board, and obtaining the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional certification (PMP) or equivalent.
  • Maintain PES Project Manager Qualification status through ongoing training and re-certification as required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (~10%)

  • Experience interpreting or applying Contract terms & conditions and binding agreements.
  • Embraces and demonstrates sensitivity to culture of customer and internal team members.
  • Understanding of GE financial processes, revenue recognition, costs, margin, and quarterly forecasting.
  • Understanding of project scheduling; ability to manage critical path activities to meet outage date.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in either field engineering, commercial, engineering, sourcing, repair, power plant, Operation and maintenance or other adjacent role with Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, or Aero-derivatives.
  • Extended scope experience involving power plant equipment and auxiliary systems.
  • Direct customer-facing experience.
  • PMP Certification, Project Management Leadership Program (PMLP) Graduate, or other Project Management training.
  • Experience with GE's installed base and/or customers in Middle East & North Africa.
  • Proficiency in the Arabic and English Languages, French is a plus.
