The team you will be a part of

The Sales Development & Execution team is responsible for the development of early career Leadership Development Program talent and the successful execution of Sales Channel in-store go to market priorities.  The team works with sales and management to gain knowledge of in-store assisted selling and training needs, and facilitates a variety of on site sales training and relationship building to build brand advocacy of retail sales associates and drive Point of Sale (POS) sales in the stores.

This role in summary

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Sales Development Manager opening to join Whirlpool’s U.S. National Sales Execution Team. The Sales Development Manager is responsible for coaching and developing 6-8 direct-reports who are in their Territory Sales Representative rotation of the Real Whirled Leadership Development Program.  The Sales Development Manager is also responsible for driving in-store rate of recommendation and POS sales through their teams in the Big Box Channels (Lowes, Home Depot), National Accounts (Best Buy, Menards), and Key Independent Accounts. They will work closely with the channels and Sales Execution Operation team to execute all channel and Corp in-store priorities.  Travel requirements flex based on the number of direct reports which adjusts up and down throughout the year with rotating Real Whirled classes.  Up to 35% Travel for visiting and riding along with Territory Sales Representatives in the field in various major metro markets.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Real Whirled Leadership Development Program Sales Execution Representatives to become successfully competent in the Territory Sales Representative (TSR) role and ready to advance to the Market Development Representative (MDR) rotation
  • Drive in-store rate of recommendation and POS sales through your team, in line with company sales goals.
  • Interact with sales execution operations team and channel representatives to align on priorities and direction for the team
  • Utilize channel go-to-market plans and point of sale data to establish individual and team goals and execute plans to reach targets
  • Provide thought leadership & recommendations regarding mentors, development opportunities and career path planning
  • Communicate effectively with direct reports to provide clear direction, performance feedback, and ensure employee engagement
  • Conduct quarterly market visits with each team member
  • Actively participate in Real Whirled Leadership Development Program Steering Committee responsibilities including monthly steerco meetings, check-in 1:1s with in-program employees, and interviewing and assessment activities.
  • Support Real Whirled first 3-month training-rotation events such as factory tours, World of Whirlpool training support, Real Whirled Reunion, happy hours, coffee chats, lunch & learns, etc.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor degree 
  • 5+ years’ sales related experience

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Knowledge of professional sales process
  • Sales related experience within the appliance industry
  • Understanding of Whirlpool go-to-market processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in developing, coaching, and mentoring employees
